NVIDIA has released Switchyard, a Rust-based proxy and library licensed under Apache-2.0 designed to route large language model traffic. According to MarkTechPost's description, the project converts requests into a provider-neutral format, directs them using various algorithms, and translates responses back into the client's format.

Declared routing modes include pass-through, random selection, classification by language model, and sequential multi-stage routing. The description also states that Claude Code and Codex CLI will be able to operate via Switchyard with vLLM, NIM, or Ollama without requiring client-side changes.

The project is currently in the pre-alpha stage and, according to available descriptions, is not intended for production use. This limits the practical significance of the release at this stage: it primarily concerns a declared architecture and the capabilities of an early project, rather than a confirmed ready-to-use service.
